Training Content

Method 1: Creating a Report from the Reporting Menu

  1. Open HubSpot.

  2. In the left sidebar, locate and click the Reporting icon.

  3. Select Reports from the dropdown menu.

  4. Click the Create Report button.

  5. Choose your desired report type:

    • Custom Report

    • Single Object Report

    • Customer Journey Report

    • Attribution Report

    • Funnel Report

  6. For flexibility, it’s recommended to choose Custom Report—even for single objects—because it provides additional configuration options and more control over data fields.

  7. Choose to either Start from Scratch or Start with a Dataset.

    • Note: In this training, datasets are not being used.

  8. Select the Primary Data Source (e.g., Deals or Contacts).

    • Be mindful of this selection, as it determines how data is displayed and calculated in your report.

    • Example: If you choose Deals and count Contacts, HubSpot will count only the contacts associated with those deals that meet your filters.

  9. After selecting the primary object, you can add associated data sources (e.g., Contacts and Views).

  10. Click Next to proceed to the report builder.

  11. Select your metrics (e.g., Count of Contacts) and choose the basis for aggregation (e.g., Creation Date).

  12. Apply filters as needed.

  • Example: Show only Contacts created after August.

  1. Adjust the frequency or time range (e.g., Daily view).

  2. Review the visualization to confirm that the data displays as intended.

  3. You can experiment with formula fields or other customization options for deeper analysis.

  4. Once satisfied, save your report.

💡 Tip: Always pay close attention to the primary data source, as it defines the data relationships and what results you’ll see in your report.

Method 2: Creating a Report from a Dashboard

  1. If you are already inside a Dashboard, click Add Report.

  2. Select Create Report from the menu.

  3. You’ll see the same report creation screen described in Method 1.

  4. Follow the same process: choose report type, select objects, configure metrics, and apply filters.

  5. Once complete, the report can be added directly to your current dashboard.
