Training Content
Method 1: Creating a Report from the Reporting Menu
-
Open HubSpot.
-
In the left sidebar, locate and click the Reporting icon.
-
Select Reports from the dropdown menu.
-
Click the Create Report button.
-
Choose your desired report type:
-
Custom Report
-
Single Object Report
-
Customer Journey Report
-
Attribution Report
-
Funnel Report
-
-
For flexibility, it’s recommended to choose Custom Report—even for single objects—because it provides additional configuration options and more control over data fields.
-
Choose to either Start from Scratch or Start with a Dataset.
-
Note: In this training, datasets are not being used.
-
-
Select the Primary Data Source (e.g., Deals or Contacts).
-
Be mindful of this selection, as it determines how data is displayed and calculated in your report.
-
Example: If you choose Deals and count Contacts, HubSpot will count only the contacts associated with those deals that meet your filters.
-
-
After selecting the primary object, you can add associated data sources (e.g., Contacts and Views).
-
Click Next to proceed to the report builder.
-
Select your metrics (e.g., Count of Contacts) and choose the basis for aggregation (e.g., Creation Date).
-
Apply filters as needed.
-
Example: Show only Contacts created after August.
-
Adjust the frequency or time range (e.g., Daily view).
-
Review the visualization to confirm that the data displays as intended.
-
You can experiment with formula fields or other customization options for deeper analysis.
-
Once satisfied, save your report.
💡 Tip: Always pay close attention to the primary data source, as it defines the data relationships and what results you’ll see in your report.
Method 2: Creating a Report from a Dashboard
-
If you are already inside a Dashboard, click Add Report.
-
Select Create Report from the menu.
-
You’ll see the same report creation screen described in Method 1.
-
Follow the same process: choose report type, select objects, configure metrics, and apply filters.
-
Once complete, the report can be added directly to your current dashboard.
